Sim racing coaching tools advertise what they can teach you — live voice corrections, root-cause lap analysis, pro reference data. What they say less loudly is whether any of it works with the sim you actually drive. The gap is dramatic: an iRacing driver can choose from every coaching and analysis tool we track, while a RaceRoom or Gran Turismo 7 driver is picking from two or three. So before you compare prices or features, filter by your sim. Here is the sim-by-sim support picture, taken from what each tool's own site lists.
The compatibility table
We track twenty tools in this category. Eight are dashboard and overlay apps, which we'll come back to, and MoTeC i2 Pro is professional analysis software whose site lists no sims at all. That leaves eleven tools that coach, analyze or engineer your driving and name their supported sims. The table shows which of those eleven list each major sim, as recorded on each entry's verification date.
| Sim | Coaching and analysis tools that list it | Tools (of 11) |
|---|---|---|
| iRacing | TakeP1, Trophi.ai, Track Titan, TrackPro, Coach Dave Delta, Crew Chief, Z1 Dashboard, Popometer, VRS, Garage 61, iSpeed | 11 |
| Assetto Corsa Competizione | TakeP1, Trophi.ai, Track Titan, Coach Dave Delta, Crew Chief, Z1 Dashboard, Popometer | 7 |
| Assetto Corsa | TakeP1, Track Titan, TrackPro, Crew Chief, Z1 Dashboard, Popometer | 6 |
| Le Mans Ultimate | TakeP1, Trophi.ai, Track Titan, Coach Dave Delta, Popometer | 5 |
| rFactor 2 | TakeP1, Crew Chief, Popometer | 3 |
| Automobilista 2 | TakeP1, Track Titan, Popometer | 3 |
| RaceRoom | TakeP1, Crew Chief, Z1 Dashboard | 3 |
| F1 25 | TakeP1, Trophi.ai | 2 |
| Gran Turismo 7 | TakeP1, Coach Dave Delta | 2 |
iRacing is the default — three tools support nothing else
Every one of the eleven lists iRacing, and three of them support nothing else. If iRacing is your sim, the question is never whether a tool works — only which one fits. The three iRacing-only specialists also happen to be among the cheapest ways into serious telemetry:
- Garage 61 — community-shared reference laps, setups and team data. Everything is free during its alpha, though the official FAQ is upfront that not all of it will stay free.
- VRS Virtual Racing School — a free tier with personal telemetry and free datapacks, paid plans at $4.99/mo (Dedicated) and $9.99/mo (Competitive), and human coaching from $29.99 per 30 minutes.
- iSpeed — a donationware HUD and lap analyzer with a community datamart of thousands of uploaded laps; a $15+ donation removes prompts. It is visibly dated, with the site still listing Windows XP through Windows 8.
The surprises: Le Mans Ultimate is covered, F1 and GT7 barely are
Le Mans Ultimate, still a young sim, is already listed by five of the eleven — including real-time voice coaches TakeP1 and Trophi.ai. The F1 series thins out fast for coaching, and the exact version matters: Trophi.ai lists F1 23, 24 and 25, TakeP1 lists F1 25, Track Titan lists F1 26, and Z1 Dashboard lists only 'EA F1' with no version. On console, Gran Turismo 7 gets exactly two coaching-tier tools: TakeP1 on PS5 and Coach Dave Delta. And one caution flag from the pricing end: TrackPro's own site lists just three supported sims — iRacing, Assetto Corsa and BeamNG.drive — despite paid tiers running from $20 to $297 per month.
If your sim isn't in the table
The dashboard layer is far wider than the coaching layer. SimHub's site claims 100+ supported games with a free base download, and DashPanel covers 40+ titles including F1 games back to 2012 and even Euro Truck Simulator 2. For older sims, Crew Chief is the standout: the free, MIT-licensed voice engineer lists GTR2, Project Cars 1 and 2, Richard Burns Rally and F1 2018/2019 alongside the modern platforms — no other tool in our data lists titles that old.
