A sim racing subscription, a per-game unlock or even a free install is a bet that the app keeps pace with the next game release and the next telemetry format. Almost none of the 21 tools in our verified comparison print a changelog on the page you buy from, but two clues are nearly always there: the newest game the site names, and any version number, release date or end-of-life note it lets slip. We recorded both for every tool. Here is what each site shows.

The apps already naming this season's games
The cheapest freshness test is the yearly F1 title, because a site cannot list a game that did not exist when the page was last touched. Trophi.ai and Track Titan both name F1 26, and Track Titan and Coach Dave Delta both name Assetto Corsa Evo, so all three have had recent work on their compatibility lists. Sim Racing Telemetry goes a step further and calls out support for F1 25's 2026-season telemetry protocol, which is the kind of detail only a maintained capture app bothers to state. Race Dash for Sim Games is the one tool whose store listing showed a version and a date: v7.3.3, released June 25, 2026, with F1 25 sold as a $5.99 unlock or covered by the $1.99/mo All Access plan. TakeP1, which the team behind PickMerit operates, names F1 25 and Le Mans Ultimate, and its own weakness is a freshness signal of a different kind: the installer is not yet code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen warns on install.
Crew Chief and iSpeed: old listings, live downloads
Two of the most used free tools have the oldest-looking pages, and the data cuts both ways. Crew Chief's supported-game list tops out at F1 2018/2019 and Project CARS 1 and 2, its Android companion app is marked EOL on the official forum, and distribution and documentation live on a vBulletin forum behind Cloudflare bot protection. Yet when we re-verified it on 2026-09-19 in a real browser, the challenge passed, the CrewChiefV4.msi download and the donate link were both live, and the code is MIT-licensed open source on GitHub. iSpeed is similar: the official site still lists compatibility as Windows XP through Windows 8, unlicensed copies show periodic donation prompts, and a $15-plus donation buys a license key. A dated page is not the same as a dead app, but neither site gives you a release date to lean on: both downloads work today, and neither page says what happens next.
The gaps that are about direction, not age
- TrackPro has shipped a V2 and rebuilt its site, but the new site no longer names which sims are supported; only testimonials mention iRacing and Assetto Corsa. Check your title is covered before the 30-day trial on a $20/mo Starter plan turns into a charge.
- Garage 61 is explicit that its free-for-everything alpha will not last: the FAQ answers 'Will it stay free?' with 'Not all of it', and an optional Pro plan at €5/mo when subscribing yearly already exists.
- Popometer lists its coaching feature as 'coming soon', so today it is a lap-comparison tool with pro data packs, not a coach.
- MoTeC i2 Pro's site makes zero mention of sim racing and targets real MoTeC hardware customers, so any sim workflow you build on it is unsupported by the vendor's own pages.
