Still racing Project CARS, rFactor or GTR2? The sim racing apps that still list older games, and what each costs

Which telemetry, dashboard and voice-engineer apps still list Project CARS 1 and 2, rFactor, GTR2, Automobilista and F1 2012-2019, with platforms and prices.

Most of the coaching and telemetry apps we track chase the current season: F1 26, Assetto Corsa Evo, Le Mans Ultimate. If the sim you actually drive is Project CARS 2, the original rFactor, GTR2 or an F1 game from the 2010s, the list shrinks fast. We went through the supported-game list on every tool's own site and pulled out the ones that still name an older title. Five do: one voice engineer, three second-screen dashboard apps and one dashboard-and-instructor suite. SimHub's site claims 100-plus games, but our data does not itemise them, so it is not in the table. Everything below is as verified on the dates shown on each tool's card.

ToolOlder titles named on its siteAlso listedWhat it costs
Crew ChiefGTR2, rFactor, Automobilista, Project Cars 1 and 2, F1 2018/2019, Richard Burns RallyiRacing, Assetto Corsa, ACC, RaceRoom, rFactor 2; WindowsFree, MIT-licensed open source; donations accepted
DashPanelF1 2012-2025, Project CARS40+ games incl. iRacing, Assetto Corsa, Forza, ETS2; Windows (Steam), iOS, AndroidTime-unlimited free demo (RPM, speed, gear only); per-game in-app purchase for full data
RS Dash ASRProject CARS 2, F1 2020-25AC, ACC, Automobilista 2, Forza, Gran Turismo, iRacing, Le Mans Ultimate, RaceRoom, rFactor 2; iOS, Android, WindowsFree base app; in-app subscriptions for Advanced Analysis and the dashboard designer
Race Dash for Sim GamesProject CARSF1, Gran Turismo, Forza, Assetto Corsa; iOS, iPadOS, Apple Watch, Mac (M1+), Apple VisionFree base app; per-game unlocks $2.99-$5.99; All Access $1.99/mo or $13.49/yr
Z1 DashboardrFactor, AutomobilistaiRacing, Assetto Corsa, ACC, RaceRoom, EA F1Standard $3.99-$4.99/mo; Track $7.99-$8.99/mo; Pro $17.99-$19.99/mo; demo only, no free tier

Crew Chief is the only voice engineer that reaches this far back

Crew Chief is the outlier in the whole data set. Its supported-game list runs through iRacing, Assetto Corsa, ACC, RaceRoom, rFactor and rFactor 2, then keeps going into GTR2, the original Automobilista, Project Cars 1 and 2, F1 2018 and 2019 and Richard Burns Rally. No other tool we track names GTR2 or Richard Burns Rally at all. It is a Windows app, free and open source under the MIT licence on GitHub, with donations accepted through the site. The compromises are practical, not financial: the download and documentation live on a vBulletin forum behind Cloudflare bot protection, and the Android companion app is marked EOL on the official forum. If you want a radio engineer and spotter calling your laps in GTR2, this is a list of one.

Project CARS: four apps, three of them dashboards

Project CARS is the best-served older title. Crew Chief lists Project Cars 1 and 2, and three second-screen apps list it too: RS Dash ASR names Project CARS 2 specifically, while DashPanel and Race Dash for Sim Games name Project CARS without a number. All three are dashboards, not coaches: live gauges, timing and a track map on a phone or tablet. RS Dash runs on iOS, Android and Windows, with a free base app and in-app subscriptions for its Advanced Analysis lap comparison and dashboard designer. DashPanel runs on Windows through Steam plus iOS and Android, and its free demo shows only RPM, speed and gear until you buy the per-game unlock. Race Dash for Sim Games is Apple-only, from iPhone and iPad to Apple Watch, Mac on M1 or newer and Apple Vision, with per-game unlocks at $2.99 to $5.99 or All Access at $1.99 a month or $13.49 a year. Two caveats weigh more on a game that is no longer patched: Race Dash needs each game's UDP telemetry switched on, and DashPanel states that available channels depend entirely on what each game's developer exposes.

rFactor and Automobilista, without the 2

Two tools list the original rFactor and the original Automobilista rather than only their sequels. Crew Chief lists both, alongside rFactor 2. Z1 Dashboard lists rFactor and Automobilista next to iRacing, Assetto Corsa, ACC, RaceRoom and EA F1, and it is the only tool in this group with an in-sim AI driving instructor and track-walk mode. That instructor sits on the Track tier at $7.99 to $8.99 a month; Standard at $3.99 to $4.99 restricts it to a single car and track combo, Pro at $17.99 to $19.99 is for commercial use, and there is no perpetual free tier, only a demo. Everywhere else in our data, rFactor means rFactor 2: TakeP1, RaceLab, Popometer and RS Dash all list rFactor 2 and none of them lists the original.

What the coaching apps do not list

None of the AI coaching tools reach back. Trophi.ai, Track Titan, Coach Dave Delta, Popometer and TakeP1 list modern sims only. Between them they cover rFactor 2 and Automobilista 2, but not rFactor, Automobilista, Project CARS, GTR2 or any F1 game before F1 24 (Trophi.ai lists F1 24, 25 and 26, Track Titan F1 26, TakeP1 F1 25). The older F1 games live with the dashboards instead: DashPanel runs F1 2012 through 2025, RS Dash F1 2020 to 25, and Crew Chief stops at F1 2018 and 2019. TrackPro cannot be counted either way, because its site no longer names which sims it supports. For an older sim, then, the realistic choice is a free voice engineer and spotter in Crew Chief, a live dashboard on a second screen, or Z1 Dashboard if your game is rFactor or Automobilista.

  • Check the exact title: RS Dash says Project CARS 2, DashPanel and Race Dash say Project CARS with no number, Crew Chief says Project Cars 1 and 2.
  • The second-screen apps need the game to send telemetry: Race Dash requires UDP telemetry enabled per game, and RS Dash needs its Windows PC version installed on the game PC for AC, ACC, Automobilista 2 and iRacing.
  • Free usually means capped: DashPanel's demo shows RPM, speed and gear only, Z1 has only a demo, and Race Dash's newest titles need paid unlocks.
  • Crew Chief's download and docs sit on a forum behind a Cloudflare challenge that passes in a normal browser, and its Android companion app is EOL.

Every game name, price and platform above comes from each tool's own site on the verification date shown on its card. Full details for all of these tools are on our comparison: Best Sim Racing Coaching Tools.
